User Instructions for The Site Mapper
The Site Mapper is a simple but efficient ‘Tree Menu’ similar in many respects to the Windows Explorer Tree Menu. The Site Mapper opens as a small ‘Pop-up’ which should load and open automatically. If for some reason it will not open, you will need to grant rights for it to open as a pop-up. There are a number of differing ways to grant permission depending on both your operating system and your browser version. Please follow the appropriate instructions for your computer and browser. These instructions apply to a computer and browser with full access rights as explained above.
You will need to carry out the following simple instructions!
- Click on the Site Map Union Jack above to open it.
- When open, you will be presented with a series of vertical bars joined by thin horizontal lines. This is the basic Site Map. Additionally you will also see Structure, Outline and Search Navigation Tabs at the top and Show up to level 2, 3 or All radio buttons at the base. Structure and All are the default displays when the Site Map is first opened.
- As you move your mouse cursor over the various vertical bars, they will change to red and a descriptive text relating to the highlighted bar will be displayed. However, depending again on your operating system and browser, before being able to view the text, you may be presented with a ‘GUI’ which states ‘click to activate & use this control’. Rest assured that it is perfectly safe to left click your mouse on the site mapper page. After clicking, the bar colour and text will be fully functional.
- To use the other facilities available on the site mapper, you only need to select the appropriate radio button or tab. The radio buttons dictate whether 2, 3 or All levels are displayed whilst the Outline Tab will display a tree style menu in the format you decided when selecting the radio buttons.
- Left clicking on any of the vertical bars will load that page into your browser as will left clicking on any of the text displayed when in the outline mode.
- The final element is the Search Function! Enter a single word or text string for what you are looking for. If there is a positive match, a link will be displayed in the results frame. If there is more than one result, each result will be displayed.
Happy Hunting!
